Cee Cee, part 2

Cee Cee is VERY affectionate. When she lived out on the streets, she was not spayed, so she had at least 2 litters of kittens, but by the time I found her it was November and her last litter of kittens had grown up. So because she was a wary mama cat, raising her brood in an unfriendly outdoors world, Cee Cee is also VERY street smart and protective.

She is still very much in charge, like a Mommy Cat usually is, and she leads me around the apartment as though I was her kitten!!

She is still half-wild, and is terrified of anyone else but me, so before I take her to the vet, I have to gently tranquilize her with a little pill the vet gave me (NEVER use anything other than what the vet gives you, and even then be careful, watch them carefully and report any problems to the vet at once, as cats can respond differently to the same tranquilizer!!!).

I am pretty sure she must have lived with humans before, and possibly these people were careless and let her wander -- and they were definitely IRRESPONSIBLE, since they never had her spayed.

Cee Cee slowly learned to trust me. I was delighted when after a year of living with me, she finally started to play, first with her tail (thumpety thumpety thump -- what's that noise? It's Cee Cee rolling around and around on the floor grabbing her tail! Sometimes she lies on her back, all four little feet in the air, trying to grab her tail with her mouth and front paws)  and then with some of the cat toys. She is still a little terrified of some of the toys that my other cats love to play with, so I just give it time and I keep the scaredy toys away from her.

Cee Cee runs to me when I call her, and it's really cute to see her with her huge fuzzy tail straight up in the air, her frowzy head up in the air, and her fuzzy bloomers wiggling. Sometimes I put a collar with a bell on her (she is half-wild so I NEVER leave it on when I am not near her!!!), and when I call her I hear the bell going "jinglejinglejinlge" real fast, as CeeCee quickly wiggles over to me with bright eyes and happy trilling purrs. "A-wrrooow!!" she purrs, mouth open in a little "breathless" Cee Cee smile.

Since she is a long-hair, I brush her EVERY day (well, I brush ALL my cats every day),and I give her Purina soft hairball treats (because she won't eat the Petromalt, like the other kitties will). I call her to myself saying "Beauty Parlor!" and now that she knows what it means, she runs to the toilet seat, jumps up and puts her paws on the sink so I can brush every inch of her purring body. Sometimes I have to comb thru some snags (I do it VERY gently) and she'll swat me, but if I distract her by combing her cheeks, she won't really notice what I am doing. That's the key with kitties -- never be rough with them or any pet. Nine out of ten times they WILL understand what you are doing for them, if you are gentle and patient.
